The video-installation The Mirror comprises two large, identical images facing each other – two video projections – and a third projection on the floor between the other two. The first projection is a still image depicting a woman at four different ages: young, old, middle-aged and breastfeeding mother. All four are draped with a strange shawl made of gold-coloured wire.

On the other side, the same image comes to life like a magic mirror. The women are standing across one another in a mood of self-awareness, awaiting to be rid of the patterns that hold them in and redefining themselves as a unified and cohesive entity.

Their ages are not necessarily the real ones; they just project each their particular traits as we experience them alternately over the entire course of our lives.

​The third projection on the floor is that of a sea that fills the space between the two other images.

Βιντεο εγκατάσταση

​Η βιντεο-εγκατάσταση The Mirror αποτελείται από δύο ίδιες μεγάλες εικόνες αντικριστά στο χώρο - δύο βιντεοπροβολές και μία προβολή στο πάτωμα ανάμεσά τους. Η μία προβολή είναι σταθερή και απεικονίζει μια γυναίκα σε τέσσερις διαφορετικές ηλικίες: νέα, ηλικιωμένη, μεσήλικη και γυναίκα με μωρό που θηλάζει. Και οι τέσσερις περιβάλλονται από μια περίεργη εσάρπα από χρυσαφί σύρμα.

Απέναντι βρίσκεται η ίδια εικόνα, που ζωντανεύει σαν μαγικός καθρέφτης. Οι γυναίκες στέκονται αντικριστά με μια διάθεση αυτογνωσίας, προσδοκώντας την απαλλαγή τους από τα σχήματα που τις εγκλωβίζουν, και επαναπροσδιορίζουν τον εαυτό τους ως ενιαία και συνεκτική οντότητα.

Οι ηλικίες αυτές δεν είναι απαραίτητα πραγματικές, αλλά προτάσσουν τα χαρακτηριστικά τους, που τα βιώνουμε εναλλάξ σε όλη τη διάρκεια της ζωής μας.

Η τρίτη προβολή στο πάτωμα είναι μια θάλασσα που καλύπτει το χώρο ανάμεσα στις δύο εικόνες.
